Coffey Construction helps to get new Community Garden for Westside underway.

Recently the Westside Community Garden received a boost in its work with the help of Coffey Construction. Coffey's, who are the main contractors on the redevelopment of the Seamus Quirke Road project, gave a helping hand to the local community by assisting with the excavation of the site for the new Westside Community Garden beside the Westside Resource Centre.

Galway City Partnership and the people of Westside Community are thanking Coffey Construction, in particular Darragh Gardiner, Ciaran Ryan and Brendan Kelly for their invaluable help and assistance in preparing the site for the new community garden in Westside.

Vernice Murray, coordinator of the Westside Community Project said, "We would also like to sincerely thank Feargal McGreal of Galway City Council for his commitment and support and without whom this work would not have been possible. The work included excavating the site, disposing of materials and placing of topsoil on the site."

On behalf of the garden committee, Vernice went on to express the gratitude of everyone involved in the new garden for the generosity of spirit of Coffey Construction towards this new community initiative for the people of Westside, at a time of severe financial constraints. "Without their expertise and support," she said, "We would not have been in a position to further develop this wonderful community project."

Anyone wishing to know more about the new community garden or who would like to get involved in this new community initiative, can contact Vernice Murray on 091 528325 or 087 9303468.
