Galway City Anti-Racism Strategy 2005-2008Towards A City Of Equals - Galway City Anti-Racism Strategy 2005-2008 was formally launched on March 21st 2005, International Day Against Racism. This initiative, the first of it’s kind in Ireland, is designed to combat racism and promote interculturalism locally through the implementation of a wide range of strategic actions throughout Galway City over the coming years.The main strategy document and summary document can be downloaded.

Galway Successfully Celebrates International Day against Racism:

Deputy Michaeal D. Higgins delivering an inspiring speech at the International Day Against Racism 2009 Eyre Square GalwaySaturday 21 March 2009, the people of Galway City marked International Day against Racism with an information and declaration signing event at Eyre Square, Galway

The Galway City Anti-Racism Strategy Group who organised the event were delighted with the turnout of people. Many signed the declaration to express their solidarity with Galway City’s Anti-Racism Strategy – Towards a City of Equals.

Deputy Michael D. Higgins delivered a speech at the event. He stressed the vulnerability of minority ethnic groups to racism, particularly during times of economic difficulties.

He thanked those involved in the organisation of the event for successfully marking the day.
